Description
A home phototherapy device is a device designed to treat neonatal jaundice and allows parents to perform the treatment in the comfort of their own home. This device uses special blue light to reduce the level of bilirubin in the baby’s blood. By shining blue light of the appropriate wavelength (between 450 and 470 nanometers) onto the baby’s skin, the phototherapy device breaks down bilirubin molecules and helps to eliminate it from the body. This light is shone directly on the baby’s skin, and the baby should be placed under the device without clothing (except for diapers). Proper use of a home phototherapy device under the supervision of a doctor can help effectively treat neonatal jaundice.
